Bill of Materials
Your Bill of Materials is too important to leave open to errors. Autodesk® Fusion Lifecycle helps you manage, visualise, and share up-to-date BOM information across the organisation in real-time.
Item and Bill of Material (BOM) Management with Lifecycle Control
Comprehensive information about component parts and assemblies is managed in a single, secure environment, enabling stakeholders to quickly and easily find and understand those items. Full Design and Production lifecycle and revision control ensures everyone is referencing the correct version of this information, reducing the risk of downstream errors and re-work. Bill of Materials (BOM) structures, incorporating these items, are also fully managed, improving widespread understanding of the content of each product.
Integrated component and product visualisation
Product stakeholders can view and manipulate 3D and 2D representations, allowing improved understanding of products, assemblies and components outside of the Design department, without the need for costly CAD seats. Comments can be added by those stakeholders, enabling real-time collaboration and sharing of up-to-date information across the organisation.
Configurable, context-specific Bill of Materials views
Multiple, configurable views of Bill of Materials structures can easily be defined, enabling users to view BOMs in the right context, seeing only the information relevant to them. This provides stakeholders across the organisation, as quickly as possible, with the real-time product information they need to make accurate decisions in a concise, easy to digest way.
Bill of Materials roll-up
Attributes of component parts and sub-assemblies, such as weight or cost, can be rolled-up within a BOM to provide a total for a product, reducing the time otherwise spent manually calculating those totals. The visibility of sub-totals of those attributes for each sub-assembly allows more in-depth analysis of a product. Roll-up capability is in real-time, so stakeholders can immediately assess the impact of any changes on those total values, such as overall weight or product cost, enabling them to act on those changes in a timely manner.
Components and sub-assemblies added to a BOM can be made effective from a specific date onwards, adding the element of time to the configuration of that product. New versions of an existing part can be phased in on a specific future date, enabling easier and more flexible production planning, to use remaining stock of the existing version, for example. The ability to view a BOM configuration as active on a historic date offers an aspect of traceability, enabling a powerful means of determining exactly what was manufactured or delivered on a particular day.
Bill of Materials Comparison
Quickly identify what’s changed when releasing a new version of your product. With Fusion Lifecycle, you can easily perform BOM comparisons on different revisions, configurations and effectivities of your Bill of Materials. The BOM compare features in Fusion Lifecycle offer an easy-to-understand, graphical indication of the differences between the two. Traceability of the history of a product can be more easily achieved by analysing previous iterations, helping to meet compliance requirements.
