Configurable NPI process workflow
Standard process workflows, based upon industry best practices, but fully and easily configurable, are available to assist with managing and tracking the progress of new product introductions. A graphical representation of the process, visible to anyone within the organization, promotes widespread understanding of the requirements of teams and individuals in getting a product to market. NPI progress is managed in real time, providing a common view of the current status of the development of all products, helping to quickly identify and resolve potential bottlenecks.
Project management within a fully integrated PLM environment
The progress of an NPI project, and its sub-projects and tasks, can be managed via a single, graphical chart, outlining the status of tasks completed, or still to be finished. Progress of each sub-project or task is outlined via Gantt chart format, and red, amber and green indicators give a fast, easy means of understanding the performance of the project, and gives early indication of where delays are potentially occurring. Projects are managed within a fully integrated PLM environment providing, unlike stand-alone tools or spread sheets, instant access to rich information on all aspects of the project, and integration to process workflows, with automatic updates as those processes move forward. This provides a real-time view, for all stakeholders, of NPI project progress.
Project activities can be broken down into individual tasks, with details of that task, such as who owns it, who the other stakeholders are, and estimated effort, readily available, ensuring those assigned to the task, and other interested parties, have a full understanding of what needs to be done, at a granular level. Real-time process workflows manage the progress of each task, helping to keep it on track by providing stakeholders with an indication of whether it is progressing well or has been delayed, giving them the ability to take any remedial actions in a timely manner.
Task notifications and real-time ‘to-do’ list
Those assigned a task can be automatically immediately notified by email so they instantly know they have an activity to carry out, reducing the risk of delays. The task is also outlined in a ‘to-do’ list, unique to them, which is a constant reminder of that required input, from where they can quickly access full details of the process and what is required of them. Other stakeholders, not directly involved in the process, can subscribe to notifications so they are made immediately aware when that task is complete, so they can take the required follow-on action immediately. This all helps to get activities actioned quickly and avoid any unnecessary delays.
Real-time stage-gate milestone indicators
Projects, sub-projects, tasks and individual processes can all be allocated visual red, amber and green milestone indicators which outline to everyone when each stage of that activity is due, and whether that stage is on track. These are updated automatically as process workflows are signed off, giving a real-time indication to everyone in the organization of the status of individual tasks or overall project. When a task or project is complete, the milestones are fully traceable, helping to improve understanding of which aspects of it were completely efficiently, and which were late, and hence providing feedback which can be used to improve the effectiveness of future activities.
